I missed this space. I know it’s only been a week since I posted any thing new but it feels like a month. My absence wasn’t voluntary, I just found myself without the time to put anything coherent up. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great week but I have decided to put the ‘schedule’ option to use from now on.
So, I was nominated for this award last week (making this a really late post…) by the incredible Kelly of theintrovertmomblog, it’s interesting how you can feel a connection with someone living on the other side of the planet but after reading her first post about trying to adjust to small town life as an introvert, I felt like she was writing about me. She’s also a really talented photographer, so you get beautiful pictures to go along with her articles (which are always interesting). Thanks, Kelly!
I didn’t have any idea I would have a blog a month ago. As far as I know, blogging was on a plane that was beyond me, then I found myself with so much free time on my hands that even after studying my collection of secondary school math textbooks, the Devil was still threatening to make my hands his workshop. I had to find something to keep my mind busy.
Deciding what to blog about was a bit of a struggle. I knew I had to have a niche or i would lose interest fast; Naturally, i thought i should talk about food and nutrition stuff but that felt like too much responsibility to start with, plus that would mean I had to practise what I preach *shudders*. Then i recalled a chat I had with a friend of mine from secondary school and she seemed to think i still read a lot of books (Lol!) like i did back in the day, hanging my head in shame, i had to admit that the only time i read books anymore was when the power was off with no hope of restoration.
That shame gave birth to this blog. I decided to use it to push myself to read more and I have to say i feel smarter than i did a month ago, plus my hands are doing productive work in my downtime. I won XD
My advice for new bloggers (please note I am still a baby blogger as well)
Have fun with it
This blogging thing is really time-consuming. I don’t know how the likes of Linda Ikeji do it. The only thing that keeps me going is that I really enjoy putting these posts together and WordPress is so interesting, I’m discovering new things all the time. I particularly enjoy the themes, i don’t know how people can stick to one theme. I can’t seem to help myself, i feel like I’m in a candy shop or something.
Reject the spirit of copy and paste
I used a lot of copy and paste in my third post (I think..) and the only reason I have not taken it down is that I am fighting against my perfectionist tendencies. Those posts will remain as a cautionary tale to myself about the dangers of ‘Copy and Paste’. Trust me, it’s not a good look.
